Amridge University is a Military Friendly University

Military Friendly_Amridge

Amridge University proudly supports our veterans by providing programs and tuition rates to help them complete their education.

To help military students understand their educational costs, Amridge University will send students who apply and register for courses a University Shopping Sheet that details tuition, books, and fees. Military students are entitled to the same Title IV funding as all other students have, based on federal guidelines. Each student must complete an  Application for Admission, which will include the Financial Aid Application that will provide the Financial Aid Department the information regarding the aid you are requesting. This application must be completed each academic year and received by the Financial Aid Department ten days prior to the beginning of the semester.  Any delays in completing this could delay your registration processing and your ability to start classes on time. Contact the Amridge Financial Aid Team for further information.

Estimated Annual Cost for Active Military Students

Rates are based on full-time enrollment for two semesters.  Textbooks are estimated at $100 per course, and additional fees may apply depending on the courses you are enrolled in each semester.

The Department of Defense (DoD) Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Amridge University is dedicated to the support of its military and veteran students.

All service members are required to speak with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their Military Service prior to enrolling at Amridge University.

In support of our military, Amridge University has signed the Department of Defense (DoD) Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and is approved to process DoD Tuition Assistance (TA) for all of our degree programs.  TA benefits are available to qualifying individuals currently serving in the Armed Forces.  Each service branch has specific TA policies and annual funding limits.  Through this agreement, Amridge University is committed to the Principles of Excellence held in conjunction with supporting our military students.

Policy on Recruiting, Marketing, and Advertising

Recruiting, Marketing, and Advertising Code of Ethics for appointees. Amridge University personnel are not permitted to conduct fraudulent or aggressive recruiting on or off military installations in any other venue, nor do we misrepresent ourselves, our programs, or our mission. This code of conduct includes non-military students who are designated as prospective, current, or returning students. We do not pay incentive compensation to anyone for recruiting actions. We meet all state authorization requirements consistent with those issued by the United States Department of Education.

No employee of the university may engage in high-pressure recruitment tactics. High-pressure recruitment tactics include making three or more unsolicited contacts (by phone, email, or in-person) or engage in same-day recruitment and registration for the purpose of securing enrollments.

Applying for Tuition Assistance

Each branch of service has specific TA policies and annual funding limits. You will need to apply for tuition assistance from your specific service branch each semester. Please visit your respective military services portal below for additional information.  Upon approval of your TA funds from your branch of service when completing your Financial Aid application please indicate that you are utilizing tuition assistance.  The university’s military point of contact will then obtain your TA approval and process it for the current semester. For additional information contact our military point of contact at starrfain@amridgeuniversity or call 334-387-7523.

Accreditation

Amridge University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees. Contact the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (http://www.sacscoc.org) at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of Amridge University.

Institutional or regional accreditation encompasses the whole institution. Institutional accreditation ensures that universities meet quality standards.  These standards include:  academic program quality and structure; faculty qualifications; financial and physical resources; institutional effectiveness; educational policies, procedures, and practices; student achievement; learning resources; and academic and student support services.

Institutional accreditation is comprehensive in that all of Amridge University’s programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, one of the six regional accrediting agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education.  Generally, credits earned at an institution that is accredited by one of the six regional accrediting agencie is more widely accepted and therefore more easily transferable than credit earned at an institution that only has programmatic accreditation (described below).

Programmatic Accreditation

As the name suggests, programmatic accreditation only requires that professional standards for a particular program, department, unit, or a school are met.  In other words, programmatic accreditation does not imply that all programs of an institution are accredited.  Rather, a subset of an institution is accredited.  In fact, other programs within the same department or institution may not have accreditation at all.  Credits earned at one of these programs is generally not as easily transferable as credits earned at a regionally accredited institution.

Amridge University does not have any programs that require programmatic accreditation.  All of Amridge University’s programs are accredited through the regional accrediting body, SACSCOC.

Amridge University is proud to demonstrate its commitment to our nation’s veterans by participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program. All veterans eligible for the program (as determined by the VA) will receive a Yellow Ribbon Scholarship. That scholarship, together with matching funds from the VA, will cover all tuition and fee expenses at Amridge University that are not covered by your Chapter 33 benefits. That means that the combination of financial support from Amridge University’s Yellow Ribbon Scholarship and the VA will cover the full cost of tuition and fees. For more information about applying for VA benefits, visit the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

Amridge University’s participation in the Yellow Ribbon program is determined annually. Should Amridge University cease involvement in the Yellow Ribbon Program, eligible veterans will continue to receive other benefits under the Post 9/11 GI Bill ®. GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

The Post 9/11 GI Bill ® is an education benefit program for individuals who served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. Students may begin using the benefit for study beginning August 1, 2009.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

Under Chapter 33, the benefits you receive are determined by some factors, including the length of your qualifying active-duty service, how you take your courses and your “rate of pursuit.” Visit the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs for more information about the program or to determine your eligibility. Please contact us to understand better how your enrollment at Amridge University may impact your level of benefits.

Active-duty military personnel who are eligible for Chapter 33 benefits and have exhausted all tuition assistance in a given year may use their VA benefits to cover the cost of tuition and fees. You must notify the Certifying Official of your home campus for any classes you would like certified for VA education benefits.

Amridge University salutes all that America’s veterans have done to serve our country. Now, we want to assist you in achieving your educational goals. There are some benefit plans available for eligible veterans. An overview of the ones most often used for enrollment at Amridge University is provided below. More detailed information about each program and its eligibility requirements are available at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs website.

If you are using VA Benefits for the first time, you must complete a 22-1990 form and send a copy to Amridge’s Financial Aid Department. For those who have already used benefits with another institution, you will need to complete a 22-1995 form and send a copy to Amridge’s Financial Aid Department.

The Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33): The Post 9/11 GI Bill is for individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days on or after September 11, 2001. Veterans, active-duty service members, and their spouses and dependents may be eligible for these benefits. Additional financial assistance is available for eligible veterans through Amridge University’s participation in the Yellow Ribbon program. This benefit is paid directly to the institution.

The Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty (Chapter 30): The Active Duty Educational Assistance Program is generally for individuals who entered active duty after June 30, 1985, and served continuously for three years, or for individuals serving two years on active duty followed by four years of Selected Reserve. To be eligible, veterans must have contributed $1,200 during their first year of military service. Veterans or service personnel cannot withdraw money paid into the fund.

The Montgomery GI Bill – Selective Service (Chapter 1606): The Selected Reserve Educational Assistance Program is for members of the Reserve elements of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and the Air National Guard. To be eligible, reservists must have a six-year obligation to serve in the Selected Reserve signed after June 30, 1985. No contribution is required. Eligibility for this program is determined by the Department of Defense or Department of Homeland Security, as appropriate.

Vocational Rehabilitation (Chapter 31): Students using Vocational Rehabilitation must submit a 28-1905 form before the beginning of each semester to Amridge University’s Financial Aid Department.

“The reason that I chose Amridge over other universities was primarily their support to the military community; not only the tuition breaks, which was a huge incentive, but just a staff that understood some of the challenges that come along with military service, whether it was drill weekend or whether it was a military break due to being called up to military service. It made a huge difference to know that the staff understood the military. Skylar Groves
